Hannah Crocker
Hannah entered the world of CAMP as a 15-year-old volunteer counselor in 2016, not knowing this camp for children and adults with disabilities in rural Texas would become her home and impact her life’s trajectory. Following her introduction in the summer 2016, Hannah’s involvement with the disability community surpassed that of exclusively spending summers at camp, but the “real world” is nothing like the haven CAMP has created. Hannah’s goal of spreading the message of inclusion, accessibility, and kindness through friendships that break down barriers, just like what she experienced at CAMP. Now, at 21 years old, Hannah is a senior at The University of Texas with a major in Special Education. She is a home health-care worker for a young man with Cerebral Palsy, and still spends every summer working at CAMP.

She states, “It’s the only place I’ve ever felt he is safe and it’s the only place he’s never had to mask and try to be anyone other than his amazing, incredible self. The gift you have given us is endless and transformative. There is no place on earth quite like the haven you’ve created - a shining model of inclusivity, kindness, diversity, acceptance, and celebration.”
